Draft Council Plan and 2031 Community Vision in final stages of development!

Every four years Council works with the community to develop a new Council Plan. The Plan identifies priorities for action and determines how Council will allocate resources to make them happen. In February to April 2021, we asked the community to let us know what was important for the next four years and this has been incorporated into the draft Council Plan 2021-25.

We also checked in on the Wellington 2031 Community Vision. 2031 is the community's long-term hopes for the future of our Shire. The 2031 Vision was developed in 2017 and we have reviewed the first four years of delivery against it.

During July and August 2021 we sent these draft documents out for consultation and now we're taking in the feedback and finalising the documents, ready for adoption in October.

Key Council Plan priorities

The draft Council Plan 2021-25 includes five emerging opportunities and priorities and four Strategic Directions.

What happens next?

We have completed Stage 2 consultation to gather the community's thoughts on the draft Council Plan 2021-25 and the Wellington 2031 Community Vision check in. Feedback from the community will be presented to Councillors and any required changes will be made to these two documents before they are adopted by Council in October 2021. A summary of stage 2 consultation will be posted on this page when it is available.

We want to hear from you!

Following extensive consultation, Council is inviting the Wellington community to take a look at its draft of the Wellington Shire Council Plan 2021-25.

Council has spent the past four months talking to members of our local communities in person and online about high-level priorities for the next four years.

Following this consultation, the Council Plan focuses on the environment and climate change, economy and growth, liveability and wellbeing, services and infrastructure.

Consultation is also opening for the draft Wellington 2031 Community Vision and draft 10 year Financial Plan and Asset Plan.

Council staff will be back out in the community seeking your feedback in coming weeks, or you can engage with us online.

Visit https://your.wellington.vic.gov.au/councilplan to find out where we will be and how you can tell us what you think!

Stage one of our public consultation on the Council Plan, 2030 Vision and long term Asset and Finance Plans is complete! We spent two months travelling around Wellington Shire talking to community members about your ideas, thoughts and priorities for the future. We spoke to almost 600 people in person and another hundred people got in touch with us through Your Wellington, Your Say.

We had a lot of fantastic feedback, with very clear themes coming through. All of the feedback provided has been collected and will be sorted and checked for privacy before being released back to the community during Stage 2. In July we expect to bring you draft plans to review. Watch this space!

Please contact Council Plan Coordinator Bodye Darvill on 5142 3082 or bodyed@wellington.vic.gov.au if you have any questions in the meantime.

Thank you to everyone who got involved and had your say!
