Background

Young people play a critical role in disaster recovery and preparedness for our local communities.

Future Proof works to ensure young people are involved in emergency management processes, specifically preparedness and recovery. Future Proof will support youth-led and place-based projects which connect young people with their local community, and their community to young people.

Wellington Shire Council’s Future Proof team will be working alongside Council's Emergency Management team in six local communities that are currently recovering or preparing for emergencies. We are looking for young people living in those communities who are interested in participating in guiding the project and its activities.

The communities we will be working alongside are: Carrajung, Coongulla, Gormandale, Loch Sport, Port Albert and Seaspray

The Future Proof project will also support young people with interests in upskilling or further education in both the Emergency Management space, as well as Community Services and the Mental Health sector.

Young people aged 12-25 with an interest in these areas who live in Wellington are encouraged to contact our Future Proof team

For more information, please contact Council's Youth Project Officer - Future Proof on 1300 366 244 or email nicoled@wellington.vic.gov.au.
