About the project
In 2018 we undertook an assessment of existing skate parks and BMX tracks to identify opportunities to renew existing assets and upgrade facilities to provide more opportunities for physical activity for young people.
The Youth Play Plan identified that the Yarram Skate Park, constructed in 2012 would be enhanced with the addition of features that could cater for beginners through to intermediate users. The recently completed pump track adjacent to the skate park provides a great opportunity to achieve this, but there is still a need to enhance the existing skating experience.
As part of the pump track consultation, regular users of the space identified a desire to retain the existing features and construct a multi-disciplinary space that is integrated into these existing features.
With support from the Federal Government, we have engaged Haley Constructions and Enlocus to develop three concepts based around the outcomes from earlier consultation and assessment of the sites.
Concepts
The team at Enlocus have been engaged by Council to develop three concepts that each provide a different experience to the existing skate park.

Option 1
Option 1 - the existing skate park would expand to the north and tie in to the existing features that the community have identified to be retained. This layout also allows for space that can be used by beginners to build confidence before advancing to more challenging skills.
Option 2
Option 2 - would utilise the space to the south of the existing skate park. While providing space to cater for beginners, this option also has changes in levels that allow users a different experience.
Option 3
Option 3 - would expand the skate park to the south and tie into the existing features. Large continuous areas of concrete will allow space for beginners to develop new skills, while the additional features will offer a different experience to the existing skate park.
How to have your say
We are seeking your input to determine the final layout of the Yarram Skate Park. Simply check out the three concepts, select which one you like and fill in the short survey. The most popular layout will be constructed at the Yarram skate park site.
