What is a pump track?

A pump track is a circuit of rollers, banked turns and features which can be ridden without pedaling, or pushing. A pump track can be ridden by mountain bikes, BMX, scooters, skateboarders…even rollerblades or roller skates.

Why is the track made out of asphalt?

While there are options for pump tracks to be constructed out of concrete and gravel, it was decided that from a rideable surface for bikes, scooters and skateboards, asphalt would be most cost effective.

Will the construction of the pump track impact the current use of the reserve?

Works will look to re-align the existing gravel path prior to the construction of the pump track commencing.

Access to the beach will not be impacted during or following construction.

During the construction phase, the site will be secured with temporary fencing to keep the public safe during works. Temporary Fencing will be removed once works have been completed and it is safe to do so.

Why is Council building a pump track here?

Following approaches by the Seaspray Reserves Committee of Management, and through the financial commitment of both the Reserves Committee and the Federal Government, Council have approved the construction of the pump track at this highly active recreational node in Seaspray.

What additional infrastructure will be provided as part of this project?

The objective of the project is to construct the asphalt pump track.
Given the location and its proximity to associate park infrastructure, there is no intentions to incorporate further infrastructure at this site.
