Consultation has concluded

With construction of the Maffra pump track well underway, have your say on the expansion of the Maffra Skate Park by voting for one of three designs. This project is funded by the Federal Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and will provide new features to cater for a wider range of users.

Voting for your preferred skate park design has closed. Please check back later for updates from the project officer.

About the project

In 2018 we undertook an assessment of the existing skate parks and BMX tracks to identify opportunities to renew the existing assets and upgrade facilities to provide more opportunities for physical activity for young people.

The Youth Play Plan identified that the Maffra Skate Park, constructed in 2003 is a popular facility amongst the community, but is limited by the interest it provides to users. It is anticipated that the soon to be completed pump track will provide more opportunities, but there is still a need to further enhance the existing skating experience.

Feedback already received relating to the pump track has been collated and used in the development of the scope of works for the expansion to the skate park.

With support from the Federal Government, we have engaged Haley Constructions and Enlocus to develop three concepts based around the outcomes from earlier consultation and assessments of the sites.

Concepts

The team at Enlocus have been engaged by Council to develop three concepts that each provide a different experience to the existing skate park. All options are to relocate the existing shelter to provide a space for parents and spectators to watch over both the skate park and the pump track.

Option 1

Option 1 - an additional plaza section with ramps and a pyramid to add to the existing features. This design will incorporate a quarterpipe and ramps to offer a different experience for users.

Option 2

Option 2 - create a plaza space with a range of ramps, banks and ledgers, working well with the existing features of the skate park. At the top of the ramps, space is provided for spectators.

Option 3

Option 3 - a unique plaza skateable space that will attract visitors to the skate park. Spectators are again well catered for with rest areas providing viewing platforms.

How to have your say

We are seeking your input to determine the final layout of the Maffra Skate Park. Simply check out the three concepts, select which one you like and fill in the short survey. The most popular layout will be constructed at the Maffra Skate Park site.

Consultation has now closed. Please check back later for updates from the project officer.

What happens next?

Haley Construction and Enlocus will commence the detailed design and start works to construct your favourite track. Please note - during the construction, use of the Maffra Skate Park will be impacted.
