Overview of Strategy
The purpose of the Growth Management Strategy ('Strategy') is to develop a long-term framework to direct and manage future urban growth, with a focus on the role and growth potential of Wellington's six main urban centres:
Sale/Wurruk/Longford
Maffra
Stratford
Heyfield
Rosedale
Yarram
The Strategy does not rezone land, but instead identifies preferred strategic directions and township roles to meet long-term growth needs. The Strategy identifies priority economic development opportunities across Wellington to support future job creation and investment. ‘As a whole’ the Strategy will provide Council, relevant agencies, investors and the community with clear strategic direction supporting long term urban and economic growth.
Current status
SGS Economics and Planning has been appointed by Council to prepare the Wellington Growth Management Strategy, the draft Strategy and background report have been prepared. A summary information sheet is also available.
The community was invited to provide feedback on the draft Strategy, community feedback will be used to inform preparation of a final Strategy.
If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact Joshua Clydesdale - Major Projects and Principal Strategic Planner, via strategicplanning@wellington.vic.gov.au or call 1300 366 244.
