Golden Beach Reserve Master Plan Engagement Summary

The Open Space Team have worked with the community to help shape the future of Golden Beach Community Centre Reserve. The first round of engagement took place over March and April 2026. There was a mix of online and in-person activities for people to share their ideas, experiences and priorities for the reserve.

What we heard:

  • How the reserve is used
  • What’s working well
  • What could be improved
  • Ideas for future spaces and activities

Who we heard from:

  • Local residents and community groups
  • Visitors and holiday makers
  • Children, young people and families

We heard from the community through:

  • The online survey (closed Monday 27 April 2026)
  • Meetings with local community groups and organisations
  • Conversations with students, young people and parents
  • A listening post at the End of Summer Festival market

The Feedback from stage 1 has been used to identify key themes and priorities, which will help guide the development of the draft master plan. Check out the Community and Stakeholder Engagement Report below:


What’s next?

Based on the community feedback received in stage 1, the Draft Master Plan has been developed to include layout options, future upgrades, better connection and a focus on spaces for everyone to enjoy.

This Draft Master Plan will be shared with the community and stakeholders for feedback that will:

  • Check the plan reflects community ideas
  • Help finalise the plan making it inclusive, practical and shaped by the community for the future.

The second stage of engagement on the Draft Master Plan for the Golden Beach Community Centre Reserve will commence from 10 June 2026.

Stage 2 of engagement will include:

  • Stakeholder & Community Engagement Session
    Wednesday 10 June 2026, 2pm-5pm at the Golden Beach Community Centre
  • Have Your Say - Survey on Your Wellington Your Say platform
    Thursday 11 June - Friday 3 July 2026
