Background
Council has appointed Enlocus, national award-winning designers, to work with the young people of Stratford to develop the design for the Stratford skate park site. Once an approved design has been completed, then construction of the space will be undertaken by Haley Constructions.
The budget for the construction is $350,000, with a further works budget to landscape and beautify the space to follow.
Aim of the Stratford Youth Play Precinct Project
The aim of the project is to create an inclusive and active precinct for people of all ages and ability levels, who live in the Stratford community.
The current Stratford skate park was constructed in 2008 and designed to cater for the size of the community at that time.
As identified in the Public Open Space Plan 2014-2024, Market Reserve Stratford was identified for an upgrade to district level open space. Recent works have enhanced the play opportunity for young people, as well as an improved shelter incorporating a BBQ and furniture to encourage people to extend their visit to the park.
The Stratford Youth Play Precinct project will look to create:
- an accessible space for people of all ages and abilities
- support a diversity of activities
- create a welcoming space for different ages, abilities and interest
Concept Plans
Enlocus and Haley Construction have developed concepts to inspire ideas and conversations about what is possible for the Stratford site. Please consider the concepts below as inspiration and share your ideas via the survey at the top of this page.
Based on location, space available, experiences on offer and budget availability, the two concepts create a different skate experience and space for young people to recreate.
How to be involved
Council is encouraging input from the community to assist with the development of two concepts for a dedicated space for young people to recreate in.
Lead by the team from Enlocus, we will hold a youth workshop followed by a drop-in session for the community.

What happens next?
The survey will remain open until FRIDAY 2 DECEMBER 2022.
Council will then collate responses from the survey and the youth workshop, and develop a design that will be constructed in the first half of next year.
