Stratford Structure Plan

About the Project

The Stratford Structure Plan will provide a 20 year ‘strategic vision’ to guide future growth, infrastructure, local services, and better connectivity to define the preferred direction for future growth and how change will be managed.

Structure Plans aim to provide a long-term framework to guide sustainable development within townships, specifying what type of growth can be achieved.

The Stratford Structure Plan will be used as the basis to support formal changes to the Wellington Planning Scheme through revised planning provisions, to facilitate the implementation of the Plan’s land use recommendations for further information you can visit the planning projects page.

Stratford Structure Plan – Consultation so far:

1. First round of community consultation - Introduction

The Wellington Strategic Planning Team, in collaboration with Mesh Planning, held the first round of community consultation sessions for the Stratford Structure Plan in Stratford on 5 March and 6 March 2025. The purpose of these sessions was to present the project to the community and obtain initial feedback regarding residential growth opportunities, industrial land supply, commercial uses, and other key aspects of the town.

2. Second round of community consultation - Draft Emerging Plan

A second round of in-person community consultation was held on 28 May 2025, whereby a draft emerging plan was presented and feedback obtained. Following an internal review of the comments received, and input from subsequent technical reports, the plan will continue to be refined in the coming months.
