Have your say to shape the future of Wellington Libraries
Wellington Shire Council is creating a dynamic Library Services Plan with a focus on enhancing the local library network. The Library Services Plan will guide connection opportunities through diverse programming, cultural engagement and responsible investment.
The aim of this consultation is to undertake a review of our library services to support the development of a 4-year Library Services Plan. The review will look at current services, facilities, delivery and operations, collection focus and performance, and the range of capabilities within the staff profile.
You can have your say by completing a survey below or attend a drop-in session at a library branch between 3-10 May. Drop in and tell us how your library contributes to the community and how it could be improved for all Wellington residents and visitors.

Background
A review of Wellington Shire Council's current library service is required to inform a clear strategy and plan for long-term sustainability. This review will be informed by emerging public library trends, service benchmarking and the needs of the Wellington Shire community. It will provide clarity regarding service relevance and assurance that the service is structured to deliver value for money.
This review will involve a thorough engagement process including focus group consultation and a survey of community/library users. Key stakeholders, such as library and Council staff will also be engaged.
The library network is resourced to provide innovative programs and services to a growing community, collections in a variety of forms and to maximise its role as a source of learning and cultural engagement. This consultation will assess if library operations are:
Meeting community needs and expectations
Effectively engaging with diverse people and groups
Investing in resources and activities that are important to local communities
Financially sustainable
Aligned to Council's broader community and cultural goals and aspirations
In line with contemporary library standards and practices
Maximising opportunities as a 21st century library network
What happens next?
All of the information gathered through the community and stakeholder consultation will be used in development of a 4-year Library Services Plan. The Plan will be presented to Councillors and available for community feedback.
