We want you to have your say on how we engage!

To refresh our Community Engagement Policy and Strategy we wanted your feedback. By sharing your thoughts, you helped ensure our engagement approach outlined in the refreshed documents reflected local needs, is inclusive, accessible, and included how you want to have your say.

These documents set out how we engage with you on projects, decisions and services that impact our community, once adopted by Council these documents will be available on Council's website, under Policies and Strategies and Plans.

Not all Council work involves engagement but when the community can influence outcomes it is important that we hear from you. We want to ensure that engagement continues to allow better outcomes for everyone. The Policy and Strategy are two documents which guides all our community engagement.

To stay up to date with future opportunities to have your say stay connected through our Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, through Council's Website or you can sign up to our fortnightly email newsletter here!

How We Engaged

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the engagement over the three-week period in May 2025. We received over 200 pieces of feedback, online and in person. The feedback we received included the community sessions, attendance at the Early Years Expo and the Volunteers Expo as well as the survey responses. A data overview - one pager and key changes document can be found here.

What's Next

The feedback was able to inform the revision of Council's Community Engagement Strategy and Policy. The documents are expected to go to the Council meeting on Tuesday 17 June to be adopted.

Once the documents are adopted by Council you will be able to view them on the Council website and they will be uploaded on this page.

Community engagement includes seeking community input and keeping the community up to date. It happens in a variety of ways including surveys, information sharing, community sessions, focus groups and more!

Community engagement includes informing community on projects, decisions and services which can impact our community. When you can shape outcomes or decisions Council seeks input from you. Legislation, grant funding, budget and other factors influence when and how Council seeks engagement.

The level of impact community input has changes based on the IAP2 spectrum explained below. We will not seek community input if there is no ability for community to shape outcomes.

When we seek community engagement on our work, we want the community to have their say to help shape projects, decisions or services.
