Wellington - How do you do waste?
The way we do waste is changing, but we want to hear how you sort your waste now.
The state government is standardising household recycling across Victoria, with separate FOGO and glass streams to be introduced by 2027. This includes the introduction of a four-bin waste and recycling system.
Households that already receive waste and recycling services will access the new standardised four stream system with separate services for:
- Glass recycling
- Food organic and garden recycling (green-lidded bin)
- Commingled recycling (yellow-lidded bin)
- General rubbish (red-lidded bin)
This survey is for residents and ratepayers of Wellington Shire with an existing kerbside collection for waste.
This survey aims to learn from those who use Wellington's waste service about their thoughts about sorting waste. Council’s policy dictates where statutory requirements and engagement requirements conflict, statutory requirements will be followed. While the decision to implement a four-stream waste service has already been decided, community engagement will provide valuable insight into behaviours that will help overcome the challenges and barriers to the rollout.
