Help Us Plan(t) for the Future

The urban forest is a really important part of local towns. Our long-term vision and strategy for trees in each town is to realise unique greening plans that will enhance each community's character.

You can get involved! Eligible property owners are invited to tell us which tree(s) from the preferred species list they would like planted on the nature strip of their property.


How to Have Your Say

We are inviting property owners to:

  • Use the interactive map below to check if a tree has been identified at your property.
  • Click on the dot to find suitable tree species for your area. Information on species can be found in here.
  • If your street is listed below, click on the button to have your say and pick the tree that you'd like planted on the nature strip in front of your property.


If you don't mind which of the preferred tree species is planted in front of your property, or if we do not receive your completed nomination by Friday 20 September 2024, don't worry, we'll select a tree on your behalf.

The following streets have been selected as part of the program, with planting set to be completed by September 2025. If you own a property on a street listed below, please click on the street name to complete the online survey.

We have arranged a series of drop-in sessions where Council officers will be present to discuss the Urban Forest Renewal Program with you.

Next Steps

Consultation for Urban Forest Renewal Program is open until FRIDAY 20 SEPTEMBER 2024.

Following this Council officers will collate the responses and order the trees as selected by you.

Our aim is to plant 100% of nature strips - our annual tree planting program commences in May 2025 and will run through to September 2025. While no specific date can be provided, trees selected for each street will be planted during this period.

Once planted, we will regularly water the trees for an establishment period of at least three years which will give them every opportunity to flourish.

To further aid tree growth, we encourage residents to provide new trees additional water through summer.

Street Tree Planting Locations 2025

This map will assist ratepayers with identifying where Council will be planting street and park trees as part of the 2025 Urban Forest Renewal Program.

A letter has been sent to all ratepayers within streets identified. 

Should you own a property in one of the identified streets, you are encouraged to complete the relevant survey to provide input into the selection of tree species for in front of your property.
